bioethics and film database

Welcome!
Our database is intended to introduce bioethical issues through the use of film.  Although not every movie is scientifically sound or aesthetically perfect, the underlying themes in each film can deepen our understanding of bioethical issues and provide insight into real-life situations in biology and society.  We hope that both students and non-students will implement this site into their lives with our comprehensive “Bioethics & Film in a Box” series. Each movie that we include has a portal with a film summary, peer reviewed journal articles, news editorials, movie reviews, podcasts, and a list of questions pertaining to the film.  Perhaps start a bioethics club at your university, organize a bioethics & film dinner party with friends and family, or form a bioethics social group in your local community.  We encourage you to utilize the provided resources that accompany each film as a guide for your own discussions.

Unsure of what the term “bioethics” entails? We strongly suggest that before you begin watching the films, check out our Getting Started section.  Do some quick background reading on bioethics and start thinking carefully about these issues!
